 Big Grin

Last few weeks I've been working with a secret modder Helldragon-HunterKiller, Or HDHK, (yes he's decided to let his name be known) building a dungeon-palace complex. This will hopefully feature a lengthy quest, with several possible outcomes based on the player's race and decisions.

So far this is geared toward Argonian characters, who would have a easier time of things, but will be playable for all races if one is up to a challenge.

Other areas are still being tweaked, including barracks, a prison, slave's quarters, servant areas, royal suites, and more...

EDIT:
And now I present you with a slideshow album:

Past this is a door to a new destiny...

Are you one of the Chosen?

Credits go to HDHK for much of the decorating, tweaking, monster placement, (NEW) building, and so much more... I'm just a member of the team here, so it's really our mod, not my mod. Happy

EDIT:  :"> HDHK wants it known that the mod is based on Bethesda's Shivering Isles buildings, and that he doesn't want too much credit tossed his way. Please keep in mind the fellow is shy and hates attention  :">  I've tried my best to not take credit either so I suppose we're in a bit of a pickle here.  Please just feed him Kudos and don't gush praise at him or you'll scare him away, ok?  Tongue

EDIT: Gees, if you'd said something I'd have fixed that before...  Tongue

Mysterious?   Big Grin

Yes. He's cool.  But new to Oblivion Modding.  He's done some things for Unreal and UT, but this is his first 'building' experience.

Frankly, he doesn't want anyone thinking that he's going to come out with some new and revolutionary. But then sometimes the best stuff reuses tried and true in new and cool ways.

It's been fun, honestly.

this time I'll showcase the mini temple.  This is the visible, easily located, shrine to Molag Bal.  There may be secrets to be discovered, however.  Is the worship of the Daedra just a front?

Yeah. Hypnotized
I've messed around with some interiors myself and recognize these as having:
~ well layed-out room shapes / designs
~ interesting lighting
~ content of rooms arranged believably - like someone left it that way
(like real people put the stuff there to be used)

Interiors by others have sometimes struck me as offbeat or jarringly odd.
Yours just seem to make sense.  Strange-ish and different, yet also pretty.
I think people will enjoy the visual texture of your quest-mod. Happy

Thank you Ben.  The Mystery Modder really likes your support.
He was thrown slightly by your use of the word 'jarred' but I translated for you.  Big Grin

And: more progress.

We're working on the finishing touches for the various rooms and have one blank door left. It's a player only door (No NPCs can exit the area into the main section because of how the traps etc are set).  And we're out of ideas.  Anyone have any suggestions?

 Straight Face

It's been very, very quiet..

 Whistling

The progress has continued on the dungeon.  I've got some updated pictures for you (If anyone is paying attention)
I'm deleting the old "in progress" images and replacing them with an album. Link will be posted in the first post.

The best way to keep me quiet is to cause a simple problem on my marvelously adequate computer.
I will then proceed to complicate the problem until I end up needing to use someone else's machine.
 D'oh
I wanted to comment on your newest screenshots, but...
(gives working computer back to owner)

Mostly what I wanted to add is...
The custom wall textures, snake head fire sconces, furniture and other objects really look good.
I like 'hints' that tell me I am somewhere different - that I should pay attention and not miss something.
The way you are outfitting the place says "different and interesting".
Looking forward to more screenshots. Big Grin

there's a teaser screen that shows the dungeon entrance...

And Um... Ben have any ideas about what to do with our last Player only door?

Well... Raised Eyebrow I did give that a little thought a few days ago.
What about an experimental alchemy room of sorts?
Maybe a "juicing" room - like in The Dark Crystal.

I'm not sure what flavor you are aiming for exactly. Thinking

Oh, that's a great idea.
Not for this door, but yes, great... we'll have to add that to the slavery area Big Grin
The Hist pump and the Oblivion lava dunking cages will work perfectly...

Would you like to be an Alpha tester?

The Mod as it stands uses a lot of custom stuff and SI (which I realize you might not have)
But if you would like to be a tester and take a walk through I can package up the current version and resources for you.

I'd love to be an Alpha tester. Cool
Two problems at the moment, though...
1) My computer is mostly dead -- am working on fixes.
2) I don't have SI, but might consider getting it.

So, thanks for offering, but don't waste your time on my lame arse just yet. Tongue
If / when I get my act together, yeah - I'd like to do a walk through. Big Grin

Update:  My computer seems ok again (after a fairly painless system restore).
Now to look for Shivering Isles... and think about how it may effect my home life... Roll Eyes

 Big Grin

There's been some additional work done on the "Juice Room"  (gosh such a great idea!). I've made some retextured and tweaked pieces for it. I'll attach some shots from Nifskope, ok?

Here's the main Juicing "Machine" as it comes from Oblivion. This is the Hist Sap "Machine" used by BlackWood Company, with the lower scaffolding removed.

We decided on using "Purple Crystal" light for this room, so the yellow Hist Sap has to go...

Some additional Pics.

Once this room is finished more it will be added to the slideshow, but for now I'll post the in progress images here:

One cause of the glow...

Hints about...

And in other areas there are even more secrets to be found:

Where do these dusty old passages lead?

And did I just see those shadows move...??

Well, I'm starting to sound like your personal fan club here - but this stuff is very cool.
That complex fountain thing with purple liquid looks rather arcane and interesting.....
Rather grand, actually.
The thick / murky greenish air "in other areas" lends nice atmosphere.
And the webs are nicely done.

Am I seeing green firefly lights in a couple of those screenshots?

Which armchair and sofa? we use several.  There's the pale green in the quest rooms and the red in the Lord's chambers.
They are not "Period" per say, but we are using the resources we have at hand.

Whoa...  That's way better than what I had in mind. Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin
My first reaction was an evil chuckle, but that's kinda hard to convey.

So, um, how is this "juice" consumed - if it is?
Wine glass?  Slushy / SnowCone?  Bathing in a pool of it Cocoon (movie) style...?

The plan is: juice an NPC (yes, really juice one, aging them (will switch them to Vampire race clone), and perhaps killing them, And gain 1-2 potions that will act as a super restorative (and give you infamy points along the way, I'd think). Main consumers of this Juice Essence is not the Argonians here, but who they work for (hint hint...)

PS. My Static that I added to the founts to make them look filled now pick up the water properties used by the cell's water and thus move like it does. Happy

Try wooden benches in preference Wink - sofas and stuff is like trains and cars ... jarring against all the wonderful goodies you have in there.  Better to leave an empty space - even stone blocks - nicely carved?

[edit in brainwave:  Ornately carved Stone Blocks with cushions on them!]

Maybe Koniption would will have a fit of inspiration?

ps - I tried to give myself one less kudos for being horrible - but I can't affect my own kudos even as an administrator so you will have to do that for me  Don't Know

Btw  -adding to your store of Argonian: the Dwemer failed to conquer Argonia and there are Dwemer ruins in the North where there are hilly bits / mountains.

All the Cities in Argonia are likely Imperial or the doing of the other races that have attempted and failed in conquest.

There was one City that the Imperials tried to build in the swamp - apparently the team building it disappeared to a man and whatever progress they had made was lost with them (presumably sunk!!!) but the Hist might have used various means to move it.

All the Argonian communities appear to be villages - each one centered around a Hist Tree I imagine.

First of all, I don't take away Kudos for a perfectly valid point of view.
These Argonians limit the use of wood to what they have stolen. So... no wood replacements.
SI has loveseats and chairs made of stone.  I can give the cushions on those a makeover (thus replacing the more modern items with something more "period").  More work for me, but I can do it.
